Hey, I'm Jade! Teacher, Coffee Lover & New Owner of The Functional Teacher
I grew up on the beaches of the Whitsundays before moving to Brisbane in 2020 to chase my dream of teaching, where I met my partner Zane and started my teaching journey.
My first year hit hard - heavy workload, tough student behaviour, and constantly playing catch-up with no system to hold it all together. That experience shaped exactly what I believe a planner should do: not just look pretty, but actually carry the weight of the job with you.
After that first year, I made the hard decision to step back from full-time teaching, but I still wanted to be part of this profession, surrounded by teachers who get it. So when TFT came up for sale, I knew it was the right next step. A brand with real heart, an amazing community, and room to grow. As a teacher, I know no single planner style suits everyone - that's why we offer a range of coiled planners plus our Disc System for anyone who loves to make it truly their own.
