Three months ago, I found myself in the middle of a hectic morning routine, changing nappies while pondering my ultimate dream. The notion of owning my own business had suddenly sprung to mind, and I couldn't shake it. As I contemplated this new path in my life, my husband's advice resounded in my thoughts, "If you want to own your own company, you need to be passionate about the business."
Those words sparked a fire in me. It was time to take action, but I had no clear direction in mind. So, I embarked on some late-night internet browsing, searching for opportunities that resonated with my passion and interests. The results mostly yielded everyday businesses like bakeries, fish and chip shops, and pool maintenance services, none of which quite ignited my excitement.
But one random Sunday, as if the universe itself was guiding me, I refreshed my search, and there it was—the latest addition to the listings, a teacher stationery business. I couldn't contain my excitement as I realised that this was the perfect alignment of my love for stationery and my background in teaching. The Functional Teacher planners in the pictures immediately caught my eye as I recognised the brand, and without hesitation, I reached out to the owner, Katie.
Within a week, we were Zoom calling, and I got to know Katie's down-to-earth, kind nature. Her passion for The Functional Teacher brand was infectious, and it didn't take long for me to decide that this was the business I had been waiting for. Within three weeks, after numerous emails back and forth, we signed on the dotted line, and The Functional Teacher officially became my baby – well, my other baby, after the twins!
I couldn't be more in love with the brand and the vision behind it. The Functional Teacher, with its practical and beautifully designed teacher planners, aligns perfectly with my passion for both teaching and stationery. Now, as the new owner, I'm thrilled to add my own touch and ideas to the business, and I can't wait to see how we'll grow together.
